The house was built and furnished in the early 1990s with expensive materials and furnishings. Perhaps that is why they were appropriate for their time and are now morally outdated. We propose to open up the living space into a single unit. So that whoever is in the kitchen can comfortably communicate with the rest of the people in the living area. We combine the oak veneer on the floor and on the bookcase with the warm grey-beige colour on the kitchen counter. The social facilities are linked to the rest of the interior by the use of oak veneer, which is complemented by the soft beige terrazzo tiling. The materials don’t shout and aim to be timeless. Most of the lighting is hidden in the ceiling and does not distract us.
