Within the pre-Alpine setting of the Veronese foothills, this residence was designed to create a place of belonging — a nest to return to for a family of local entrepreneurs who often travel abroad for their work.
The project is based on the recent addition to a three-story building, with the entire interior layout reimagined to establish a new domestic identity. The architectural shell itself was slightly modified: the design of the openings, rethought to frame views of the surrounding landscape, became the starting point of the project. Large windows, distributed along the perimeter, connect the interior spaces with the generous outdoor living area, defining a constant balance between inside and out.
The spatial layout grows from these orientation choices, organized around a large central spine — the true functional core of the home — made of flamed oak. The clients’ wish to extend this material to the walls led to a simplification of the interiors, integrating all furnishings into custom-built perimeter elements. In the open-plan living area, three key components — the kitchen with its black marble island, the bookcase, and the storage wall with a recessed window niche — shape the space like a lived-in stage, capable of embracing the different moments of everyday life.
A lowered passage leads to the sleeping area, where the relationship with the landscape becomes more intimate: in the master bedroom, a window seat turns into a portal toward the mountain, framing the light of morning and sunset.
