K18 Apartment is a study in pure minimalism — a calm, tactile space built on balance, precision, and natural material beauty. The clients, a family with two children, had previously collaborated with the studio on their house and landscape and returned for this apartment after seeing another of our interiors in the same building.

The design centers on a floating stone kitchen — a sculptural island clad entirely in natural marble with a translucent, backlit countertop. The marble became the project’s starting point: its amber-toned veins defined the shades of wood, parquet, textiles, and plaster throughout. Curtains act simultaneously as walls and as a soft carpet, shaping light and acoustics.

To preserve openness, the living area was organized along the panoramic windows, with two sofas forming a cozy communication corner. The kitchen stretches along the opposite wall, integrating a full cooking zone, dining for six, and hidden appliances — including a stone-front dishwasher without a plinth.
The minimalist expression demanded technical precision. All ventilation and AC grilles are hidden, and every type of shadow profile was used to maintain seamless transitions. Ultra-thin lighting tracks integrate perfectly into the ceiling, while AI-based Alice manages lighting, curtains, climate, and sound. Smart speakers are embedded in every room for full voice control.

Materiality defines the atmosphere — natural wood, textured plaster, stone, and fabric form a warm yet restrained palette. From the entrance, a sculptural piece marks the main axis, leading toward the suspended kitchen. Functional details include handleless doors, a niche for a record player, and continuous storage walls.
Art is integral to the space, not decorative — sculptures and wall pieces define the emotional rhythm. The corridor leads to private zones: a serene, cocoon-like bedroom with a wardrobe-portal to the en suite, and two compact children’s rooms differing only in accents.

Ultimately, K18 Apartment reflects not just minimalism, but the clients’ personality — their calm precision and love for material harmony. When selecting marble, the client’s amber fur coat perfectly matched the stone’s veins — a poetic coincidence that became the project’s essence.

philosophy

A complex research which aims to highlight the quality of architecture over any other aspect. We believe that architecture plays a meaningful role in society and that architects should be able to share the beauty they manage to create through their works, in a well mannered and considerate way: free of distractive advertisements and unpleasant commercials. Complesco is therefore a focused platform that wishes to take architecture to the highest level of consideration, believing that an appropriate selection will win over quantitative and generic architecture that is taking over the places we inhabit. Complesco is a tool to stop cheap apathy and indifference, towards a possible future of surrounding beauty.
