The intervention was carried out with the aim of restoring the existing building by adapting it to new functional requirements while preserving its original character. The property was divided into two separate housing units; externally, some openings were modified in accordance with the pre-existing architectural typologies.
Internally, an independent structure (“box”) was inserted in each bay, allowing for the division of spaces, thermal and acoustic insulation of walls and floors, as well as the integration of technical systems. This box, open toward the courtyard and interrupted at the skylight, has a longitudinal appendix that defines two functional areas: one intended for kitchen/study use and the other for sanitary facilities.
The latter is separated by a lightweight partition wall with a wooden door and a frameless glass panel above, so as not to compromise the spatial perception of the envelope
